Young fridge engineers battle for Gold
11th August 2015BRAZIL: The 43rd WorldSkills Competition kicks-off today with 26 young refrigeration and air conditioning engineers from across the world vying for medals.
Around 200,000 visitors are expected to visit Anhembi Park in Sao Paulo to witness this week’s event, which showcases 50 different skills across construction and building technology, creative arts and fashion, IT and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering, social and personal services and transportation and logistics. Altogether, 1,192 competitors are taking part in WorldSkills from 72 countries.
The refrigeration and air conditioning competition will see the competitors being judged across a series of stand-alone modules. The skills include refrigeration pipe-work, electrical wiring, component and system installation, commissioning and adjustment, fault finding, repair and part replacement, refrigerant recovery and control and work practices and safety. Competitors in the refrigeration sector are drawn from countries across the world, including North and South America, Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle and Far East, Africa and Australia.
The competition runs until Sunday.
