Vertiv buys Energy Labs
23rd January 2018USA: Vertiv, formerly named Emerson Network Power and owner of Liebert brand precision air conditioners, has acquired US-based custom air handling systems manufacturer Energy Labs.
Energy Labs manufactures custom air handling, air cooled, and evaporative cooled roof top DX units, indirect and direct evaporative cooling and energy recovery systems.
Vertiv sees the acquisition increasing its commercial and industrial capabilities, creating additional opportunities to work with universities, hospitals, airports, office buildings and other critical commercial segments where air handling systems are the preferred cooling solution. Cloud and colocation providers are also driving the market for large, free-cooling air handling solutions, and this acquisition bolsters the Vertiv portfolio for these customers.
Energy Labs is headquartered in San Diego, California and has more than 900 employees in the US and Mexico. The West Coast location also expands Vertiv’s access to customers in the western US.
“This is the first acquisition under the Vertiv banner, and it is exactly the kind of additive move we feel can accelerate the company’s growth,” said Jacob Kotzubei, partner at Vertiv’s parent owner Platinum Equity.
