SWEP opens new propane testing rig
31st December 2024SWEDEN: Swedish brazed plate heat exchanger manufacturer SWEP has announced the opening of a new rig for propane testing at its R&D centre in Landskrona.
The capability to run large scale propane testing is seen as an important step for SWEP to meet current and future demand for sustainable heat transfer solutions.
“The new test rig will be crucial in the development of brazed plate heat exchangers that are optimised for systems based on natural refrigerants,” explained SWEP president Ulrika Nordqvist. “We are working closely with our customers to create products that meet system design requirements of next-generation heat pumps and chillers.”
SWEP has been able to test small- and medium-sized units with propane since 2019, and the new rig will now enable in-house testing of up to XL-size units.
Ensuring operational safety and quality is said to have been central in the launch of the new rig, which is part of SWEP’s global investment programme to strengthen its long-term capacity and add new capabilities.
