Romanian customs receive refrigerant analysers
1st January 2024ROMANIA: In an effort to crack down on illegal imports, the newly-established Association of F-Gas Companies Romania has supplied refrigerant analysers and offered training to customs authorities in Romania.
In one of its first acts since its formation in November, the Association of F-Gas Companies Romania has procured the refrigerant analysers for the Romanian Customs Authority and will organise refrigerant identification training sessions with the customs staff.
The support will enable customs to pay special attention to imports of fluorinated greenhouse gases, in a country which has been identified as one of the main gateways for the illegal trade in F-gases in the EU.
“We are determined to implement best practices in collaboration with economic operators and the other responsible institutions,” declared Ion Cupă, president of the Romanian Customs Authority.
The parties agreed to request the expertise of specialists from the General Directorate of Climate Policies at the European Commission to support the training of customs staff.
