Refrigerant supply remains stable

EUROPE: The supply of HFC refrigerants in the European market remained stable in Q2, with no indications of limited availability or shortages, according to the latest price report from Öko-Recherche.

The price of quota authorisations showed a small decrease of 4% compared to Q1, with average prices now at €15.8/t CO2e.

As expected, the high GWP HFCs continue to command high prices, although the purchase price of reclaimed R404A decreased by 11% at the service company level and 7% at distributor level, compared to Q1.

That said, the price of reclaimed R404A is now 12.7x higher than the price of virgin R404A in 2014.

Price developments for R 410A at all levels of the supply chain

The quarterly report on HFC prices is produced at the request of the European Commission as a means to monitor the effect of the F-gas phase down. The data is drawn from companies at all levels of the refrigerant supply chain.
