Refrigerant supply remains stable
11th September 2024EUROPE: The supply of HFC refrigerants in the European market remained stable in Q2, with no indications of limited availability or shortages, according to the latest price report from Öko-Recherche.
The price of quota authorisations showed a small decrease of 4% compared to Q1, with average prices now at €15.8/t CO2e.
As expected, the high GWP HFCs continue to command high prices, although the purchase price of reclaimed R404A decreased by 11% at the service company level and 7% at distributor level, compared to Q1.
That said, the price of reclaimed R404A is now 12.7x higher than the price of virgin R404A in 2014.
The quarterly report on HFC prices is produced at the request of the European Commission as a means to monitor the effect of the F-gas phase down. The data is drawn from companies at all levels of the refrigerant supply chain.
