Peter Novak RIP

SLOVENIA: Peter Novak, energy expert, former VP of REHVA and an eminent member of the Slovenian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers, has died at the age of 85.

Professor for HVAC, renewable energy and environment and dean at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, he was also the honorary president of the Slovenian Solar Energy Association. 

The Association of Mechanical Engineers of Slovenia awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. He has been a member of the Council for Environmental Protection for more than twelve years, chairman of the Climate Commission and a member of the Scientific Council of the International Institute of Refrigeration IIR, vice-president of the Scientific Council at the European Environment Agency and an honorary member of ASHRAE.

He was vice-president of REHVA, the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations, from 1999 to 2008, and a REHVA Gold Medal recipient in 2010.
