Mayekawa and Frick India sign compressor JV
19th January 2025INDIA/JAPAN: Mayekawa, the Japanese manufacturer of Mycom screw compressors, has formed a joint venture with industrial refrigeration company Frick India.
The joint venture seeks to to provide energy-efficient compressor packages for a wide range of applications in India. The developed technology through this venture will be aimed at the food and cold chain industry as well as process gas, biogas, and heat pump sectors.
Frick India was originally established as a joint venture with US compressor company Frick in 1962. The company produces a wide range of industrial refrigeration products including screw and reciprocating compressors, coolers and condensers.
The company’s links to Mayekawa date back to 2005, with the Japanese manufacturer supplying Mycom compressor blocks for its screw compressors. The rotors being supplied by UK company Holroyd.
Frick India also boasts a tie up with Vilter, now part of Copeland, for its reciprocating compressors.
Mayekawa president and CEO Shin Maekawa revealed that the idea of bringing both companies together had been first envisioned seven years ago. “There exists substantial growth potential in India, given that India has a 1.4 billion population, resulting in increasing demand for cold storage and freezer solutions for their daily food requirements. By addressing these demands, we will make this endeavour successful,” he said.
