Hychill in recovery mode after fire
15th October 2018AUSTRALIA: The main storage and cylinder filling facilities at the Hychill hydrocarbon refrigerant plant remain intact following Friday’s major fire and could be resumed within two weeks.
A statement from the company says that the fire originated in the warehouse at its facility in the Melbourne suburb of Kilsyth and damaged its office and warehouse.
While the exact cause of the fire is not fully clear, the company said in a statement: “Recovery plans are in place and the HyChill management team and staff are already making the necessary arrangements to ensure continuity of supply to our valued customers and restoration to full capacity in the shortest possible time.
“We are optimistic that some level of production could be resumed within two weeks and that we should see a quick ramp-up in the ensuing weeks,” it added.
The company praised the emergency services for their prompt action and confirmed that the member of staff who sustained medium level burns is currently successfully recovering in hospital.
