German refrigerant companies form association
19th November 2024GERMANY: Companies with interests in the refrigerant industry in Germany have formed a new association as a focus for communication and political support for the use of refrigerants.
The Bundesverband Kältemittel Wirtschaft (Federal Association of Refrigerants Industry) comprises A-Gas, Daikin Chemical, Chemours, Climalife, Honeywell, Tega, Tyczka Air Gases and Westfalen.
The BVKMW will take up its work under the leadership of Norbert Klostermann, head of business management refrigerants at the Westfalen Group.
Markus Rosenthal, MD at Wattstor, will lead the daily fortunes of the association as managing director. Rosenthal has extensive experience in promoting low-carbon and zero-emission technologies, and broad network in the field of energy and climate policy.
The group argues that the use and reuse of refrigerants offers great potential for climate protection and sustainability in heating and cooling management. The association’s main task will be to provide communicative and political support for the handling of refrigerants in the sense of decarbonisation and climate and economic policy concerns.
Overcoming regulatory hurdles that are not in line with the overarching climate goals is a central concern of the association.
