Fujitsu in tie-up with Italian group GI

JAPAN/ITALY: Japanese manufacturer Fujitsu and Italian group GI Holding (GIH) have announced a collaboration to develop and sell commercial air conditioners.

The deal is described as a comprehensive tie-up of products for overseas markets including Europe. Fujitsu General and GIH say they will jointly develop efficient and comfortable air conditioning units by combining technologies in which both companies excel, and are planning to sell the products under the brand names of both companies.

GI Holding was formed in 2000 and is now responsible for a wide range of equipment including chillers, air handling units, fan coils, rooftop units and close control equipment. Brands include CLINT, KTK Klimatechnik, Montair and Novair.

The GIH network also includes the Hungarian manufacturing company Gimek Zrt, Malaysian manufacturing and trading business GI Industrial Asia Holding Sdn Bhd, and GI Middle East Fze, a trading company based in the United Arab Emirates. GIH operates four manufacturing plants in Italy, Hungary and  Malaysia.

Through this new business arrangement, Fujitsu General says it intends to strengthen the products lineup corresponding to the commercial air conditioner market, allowing GIH to use the Fujitsu technologies and sales network.
