Eight hospitalised after ammonia leak
8th March 2019BELGIUM: Eight workers were taken to hospital on Thursday evening following a reported ammonia leak at a chicken processing facility in Mouscron.
A hundred employees at the Plukon Mouscron BV plant, a poultry slaughtering facility that produces fresh and frozen poultry meat for the European retail and food service market, were evacuated.
Repairs were carried out to a broken ammonia refrigeration line and the plant was expected to reopen on Friday.
The Mouscron plant is one of 18 sites operated by the Plukon Food Group in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France.
