Danfoss to close US scroll compressor plant
24th January 2020USA: Danfoss has announced it will close its Arkadelphia, Arkansas, scroll compressor plant by the end of this year.
Danfoss Commercial Compressor president Noel Ryan, blamed the closure on a lack of global demand for small capacity scroll compressors. Scroll compressor production will in future be consolidated on its existing plants in Reyrieux, France and Wuqing, China.
The closure of the plant, which also produces condensing units and pumps, will impact approximately 170 employees.
The Arkadelphia factory was established in 1995 as the manufacturing base for Scroll Technologies, a 50/50 US joint venture business owned by Carrier and York’s Bristol compressor business. That company was acquired by Danfoss in 2006.
