Daikin celebrates 100 years

JAPAN: Daikin Industries celebrated its 100th anniversary of its founding with a commemorative ceremony attended by 2,000 people at the Symphony Hall in Osaka.

Distinguished guests, business partners, and Daikin Group employees, from both Japan and overseas, heard chairman and chief global group officer Noriyuki Inoue describe how the company had been transformed from a small factory of 15 people to the global operation it is today with its presence in more than 170 countries.

Daikin was founded in 1924 as Osaka Kinzoku Kogyosho Limited Partnership. Beginning with the production of radiator tubes for aircraft, the company has commercialised many advanced technologies, including the development of Japan’s first fluorocarbons and packaged air conditioner along with the world’s first VRF system multi-split air conditioner for commercial buildings.

Daikin now has 125 production bases around the world and approximately 100,000 group employees, making it the leading global HVACR company.
