Daikin cassette is stand-out success
9th April 2014GERMANY: Daikin’s air conditioning and refrigeration products have picked up two international and German design awards.
Daikin Europe’s fully flat cassette, launched last year, has won an IF Universal Design Award for its unique and iconic design, user comfort and high energy efficiency. News of this award follows the presentation of an award for Daikin’s Conveni-Pack refrigeration system by the German retail trade magazine Handelsjournal.
The fully flat cassette was designed and built in Europe, specifically for the European market. Its development is the result of a collaboration between Daikin Europe and renowned international product designer Yellow Design. The cassette is designed to blend seamlessly with modern commercial building interiors and is the first to fit completely within a standard European ceiling tile, enabling lights, speakers and sprinklers to be installed in adjoining panels.
The Universal Design Award is an annual international competition that judges entries on more than just exceptional product design. The jury of design experts and consumers also look at the range of applications for the product; how simple and intuitive it is to use; its fault tolerance and safety; the marketability and market potential, the technical innovation behind it; plus its sustainability and environmental-friendliness. This year, 118 entries from 15 countries competed for awards in nine categories, with entries ranging from sound-absorbing chairs to a skateboard park in India.
Daikin’s Conveni-Pack refrigeration system won the Environmental Friendliness category of the Top Retail Product Awards 2014 in Germany.
Each year, readers of German retail trade magazine „Handelsjournal“ are asked to vote for those products which they believe are consistently important for the retail industry. The Gold Award was presented to Daikin at EuroShop.
