Daikin Applied plans new US factory
18th May 2018USA: Daikin Applied, the former McQuay business, is set to expand its production capabilities with a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Southern Minnesota, north of the city of Faribault.
Parent company Daikin Industries has more than 90 production bases around the world, including two Daikin Applied US plants in Faribault and Owatonna, Minnesota.
Vice president and general manager Will Fort leads operations at both Minnesota plants, and will spearhead the development of this new factory. “We have grown our operation within the city of Faribault over 50 years. In 2000, we opened the Owatonna factory, and completed a major expansion there in 2014 to triple its size,” said Fort.
Daikin Applied currently employs approximately 900 people in its factories in Southern Minnesota. As such, they have become a significant employer in the region and the new factory is expected to create significant new employment opportunities.
Pending state and local government financial assistance approvals, the factory is expected to be brought on line in 2019.
