Copeland to relocate recip production to India
4th March 2024USA/MEXICO: Copeland is to relocate its CRi reciprocating compressor production from its plant in Reynosa, Mexico, to its existing compressor factory in Atit, India.
The production of CR, CS, and CF models relocated to the India factory will eventually satisfy all US, North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia demands for these products.
Scroll manufacturing operations at the Reynosa plant, which first opened in 2007, will continue unchanged.
Reynosa production will continue for the initial phase of the transition to provide redundant capability for all models. However, some models will not be transitioned to the new facility and will eventually be phased out, Copeland said in a statement announcing the decision.
Some models began transitioning in December and both plants will continue to manufacture CR, CS and CF models until around September when manufacturing at the Reynosa plant will end.
The Atit facility became part of Emerson Climate Technologies when it purchased the Kirloskar Copeland Ltd joint venture in 2006.
