Carrier Transicold marks 50 years
28th April 2020USA: Carrier Transicold commemorates 50 years in the transport refrigeration systems business this month.
The company came into being in 1970 when Carrier acquired Transicold Co of Los Angeles, California and combined it with its Special Products Division.
Not that Carrier was new to transport refrigeration – the air conditioning pioneer had experience in truck refrigeration applications dating back to 1940 and the incorporation of its refrigeration compressors in early truck-based systems. Just two years prior to the Transicold acquisition, Carrier introduced the front-wall refrigeration system. Carrier Transicold has since sold more than 1.3 million front-wall container refrigeration units.
“For half a century, Carrier Transicold has been a global leader in transport refrigeration supporting the safe transport of food, medicine and other perishables worldwide,” said Carrier Transicold & Refrigeration Systems president David Appel.
