Carel builds new Chinese factory

Luciano Marzaro, MD of Carel Electronic Suzhou and Alberto Catullo, Carel’s regional CEO North APAC (centre) help perform the cornerstone-laying ceremony

CHINA: Italian refrigeration controls company has laid the cornerstone of a new and larger factory in Suzhou, China.

The new plant, in the SND district of Suzhou, will boost production for the Chinese and Asia-Pacific markets. At 15,000m², it will be three times bigger than the current plant, located around 3km away. Transfer to the new site is expected to start in the first quarter of 2019.

The cornerstone-laying ceremony was attended by representatives from the XuGuan area of the Chinese Ministry for Economic Development.

During the event, Luciano Marzaro, managing director of Carel Electronic Suzhou, explained Carel’s strategic decision to build a new plant in the Suzhou industrial district: “With consolidated infrastructure and the necessary technological facilities, Suzhou is the ideal place to manufacture and market innovative solutions such as those made at the new Carel plant. The new plant will also highlight our R&D area, the true excellence of Carel Electronic Suzhou, and that accounts for 24% of the Group’s R&D operations.”

Alberto Catullo, Carel’s regional CEO North APAC, said that the new site would become “a hub” for the technological skills needed to support Carel’s operations in the APAC region.

“The construction of this new plant will allow us to develop advanced solutions that completely meet the expectations of customers in China and the rest of Asia,” he said.

Carel has been operating in China since 2005, when its subsidiary Carel Electronic Suzhou was founded.
