Bitzer opens towering new headquarters

GERMANY: Compressor manufacturer Bitzer has officially opened its new 15-storey headquarters building in Sindelfingen.

Located diagonally opposite its former headquarters of many years in Eschenbrünnlestrasse, the new headquarters at Peter-Schaufler-Platz 1 offers around 20,000m² of space for up to 500 modern workplaces. The office structure is a mix of open spaces and closed-off team and management offices. Bitzer will be occupying nine floors of the building, leasing out the other six floors.

Christiane Schaufler-Münch, chairwoman of the Bitzer SE Supervisory Board and the Schaufler Foundation board of trustees, performed the official opening ceremony today in front of many guests and representatives of business and politics as well as the construction companies involved in the project. An internal employee party is planned for tomorrow at the Sindelfingen and Rottenburg sites.

Christiane Schaufler-Münch cuts the ribbon with (l to r) Kilian Kada (managing partner at builders Kadawittfeldarchitektur) and members of the Bitzer Management Board Frank Hartmann (CFO), Gianni Parlanti (chief sales and marketing officer), Christian Wehrle (COO) and Rainer Große-Kracht (chief technology officer)

Said to be the tallest structure in the region at 75m, the high-rise is built on a two-storey base, which houses the reception, employee restaurant and meeting rooms. Located right next to reception, a spacious showroom and exhibition area showcases the company’s long history and present and future vision using a variety of media. Visitors can take guided tours and get acquainted with the products, their applications and other services in a hands-on and digital format.

The refrigeration and ventilation stations are located on the second floor of the basement. Three central refrigeration systems each with a different compressor technology – reciprocating, screw and scroll compressors – are positioned in to provide specialist visitors with easy access for viewing.

“Bitzer was established as a one-man workshop in Sindelfingen 85 years ago. This is where we belong. We remain true to our roots. That’s what Peter Schaufler and the entire Bitzer Group wanted,” said Christian Wehrle, COO and member of the Bitzer management board.

The new building is part of the legacy left behind by Peter Schaufler, Bitzer’s former managing and company owner for many decades.
