Toshiba terminates AMP contract
8th September 2017UK: Toshiba has terminated its air conditioning distribution deal with AMP following last week’s acquisition of AMP by rival Japanese manufacturer Panasonic.
An official announcement and further information is expected in the next few days.
Panasonic’s acquisition last Friday of one of the UK’s largest specialist air conditioning distributors caused consternation amongst its three existing suppliers Toshiba, Fujitsu and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
At a press conference on Wednesday, AMP director Martin Michaelson confirmed that they were in talks with all three suppliers in what was described as “a very fluid situation”.
Toshiba has been represented by AMP since 2004 but the Welwyn-Garden-City-based distributor is only one of a strong network of outlets offering Toshiba equipment. These include Cool Designs Ltd (CDL), Climate Center, Hushon, Dysk, Alpha Air, Cool Solutions and GT Phelan in Ireland. They also operate through three “approved re-sellers” – Pacair, Heronhill and Aircon Group.
