Production starts at new Hubbard factory
9th December 2021UK: Manufacturing has commenced at Hubbard Products new £3.3m, 7,500m2 commercial cooling equipment factory in Futura Park, Ipswich.
The new energy-efficient factory (EPC rating A) gives Hubbard almost 60% more production space – a significant increase in capacity that will increase volumes and reduce lead times for customers. It has been designed to provide modern production and warehouse space, a two-storey office block, 150 car parking spaces for staff and visitors with electric vehicle charging points and cycle parking.
A new research and development facility, adjacent to the new factory, is due for completion early next year. Across the new factory and the research and development facility, there are plans to recruit 60 additional workers.
The move to the new site follows the acquisition of Hubbard’s owner, the Italian refrigeration group Zanotti, in 2017 and its subsequent integration into Daikin’s commercial refrigeration portfolio.
“We are confident of Hubbard’s continued growth next year and beyond, amid sustained demand from the pharmaceutical sector, and as the food retail and hospitality sectors continue to recover from the initial impacts of the coronavirus pandemic,” said Junji Umamoto, vice president of Daikin Europe and general manager of its refrigeration business.
“The UK has real potential to lead the way in sustainable cooling, and that’s why we are so committed to investing in our capabilities here,” he added.
