Optimum acquired by Canadian FM firm BGIS
11th November 2020UK: Canadian FM company BGIS has completed the acquisition of UK building services firm Optimum Group Services.
Optimum’s CEO, Stewart Collier, and the rest of the management team remain in place, with founder John Crehan and partner James Moore continuing with BGIS in strategic advisory capacities.
Now headquartered in Olney, Milton Keynes, Optimum was founded in 1989 as a specialist in air conditioning and refrigeration engineering for commercial customers. Since then, Optimum has grown rapidly over the last few years to now specialise in mission critical building maintenance, focused on heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, M&E maintenance and energy systems.
A leading independent data centre maintenance provider in the UK, Optimum also serves key corporate and real estate markets. The £60m turnover business has 500 employees and provides digital-led maintenance solutions to more than 200 locations.
Toronto-based BGIS provides a full spectrum of customized facility management services, project delivery services, energy and sustainability solutions, asset management, workplace advisory and management, and real estate services to real estate and infrastructure owners and occupiers. Supported by a team of more than 7,500 employees globally, BGIS manages more than 400,000,000ft2 of client portfolios across more than 35,000 locations in North America, Australia, and Europe.
BGIS is on a mission to create a global, technically led, pure play integrated FM business. “As IFM is our core business, all of our investment and expansion efforts are focused on facilities management with an emphasis on customers and portfolios where their real estate is a critical revenue generating asset,” said Mark Marquis, BGIS US and Europe president.
