Ireland extends validity of UK F-gas certificates
24th March 2021UK: The Republic of Ireland has further extended the validity of UK issued F-gas certificates for engineers wishing to continue to work in the EU.
The deadline for UK-based engineers to gain an Irish equivalent of the F-gas qualifications – City & Guilds 2079, BESA FGas, CITB J11, or LCL FGas – is now extended to 30 April 2021. This extension is said to be due to the EU not yet having ratified the withdrawal agreement with the UK.
Applications should be made via the Irish Environmental Protection Agency. There is no fee for this service but the applicant’s current UK certificate must have been issued and be valid before 31 December 2020.
According to UK registration company REFCOM, UK-issued personnel qualifications will also continue to be valid and recognised in the Republic of Ireland to an extended deadline of 30 June 2021, again provided the certificate was issued prior to 31 December 2020 and remains in date for validity.
REFCOM company certificates are not valid for company registration in Ireland at this time but REFCOM says it is continuing talks with the Irish authorities with a view to becoming a recognised certifying body in the Republic of Ireland soon.
