IoR updates technical bulletins
2nd February 2022UK: The Institute of Refrigeration has released updates to four of its bulletins for service engineers and technicians.
Alternative Refrigerants for Existing HFC Systems (GN31) mainly covers the use of a replacement refrigerants in commercial R404A and R507A refrigeration applications. It does not apply to transport and industrial refrigeration or to small critically charged white goods systems. The replacement of R134a systems is also briefly covered.
As the name suggests, Recovery of Refrigerant (GPG11) explains why refrigerant should be recovered from systems and outlines the equipment required and the procedure for safe recovery.
Brazing Leak Free Connections (GPG32) summarises some good practice tips to minimise leakage related to brazed joints, while Refrigeration Piping for Oil Return (GPG35) examines issues that affect system pipe sizing and explains how to ensure oil circulated around the system is returned to the compressor via the suction line.
The guides are free to members or £6.00 each to non-members.
The IoR reminds us that membership of the technician section is just £42.00 per year with discounts for employers who sign up more than five technicians.
