Epta says Unite statements are “factually incorrect”
7th October 2024UK: Commercial refrigeration manufacturer Epta UK has hit back at comments from Unite pending a strike by workers at its Bradford factory, claiming that Unite’s statements were “factually incorrect”.
At the end of last week, the Unite union announced that around 70 of its members at Epta had voted for industrial action after rejecting a pay offer of 4%. Unite general secretary Sharon Graham claimed that the workers were being paid barely above the minimum wage, despite undertaking skilled work.
In response, Epta said it was “deeply disappointed” by the comments made by Unite general secretary Sharon Graham, claiming that they were factually incorrect.
“The leadership team at Epta UK have been working together with the local Unite representatives and Epta UK remains committed to fair pay for its employees, with all our employees currently being paid at rates higher than the national living wage. We are working hard to find a resolution for all parties with discussion ongoing,” the company said.
The workers are scheduled to take strike action on October 15, 17, 21, 23, 29 and 31.
