Daikin joins green initiatives agreement
20th December 2024UK: Heat pump manufacturer Daikin has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to support jobs, skills training, warmer homes and more sustainable power.
Daikin joins Centrica, SSE Energy Solutions and Sustainable Building Services in moves to accelerate the region’s transition to net zero by 2038. Amongst a number of initiatives, the Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, recently unveiled a ten-year, £7bn growth plan, which could support the creation of 33,000 jobs and unlock £26 billion of economic growth.
According to the MoU signed by the Mayor and the four firms, the Partnership will support the delivery of high quality jobs and skills training, warmer and more affordable homes, and the roll out of more sustainable power, to accelerate the region’s transition to net zero by 2038.
Daikin will launch at least three Sustainable Home Centres across West Yorkshire. These will allow residents and businesses to learn more about green technologies that could reduce their energy consumption and bills. They will also train installers, giving them the skills that they need to install heat pumps.
