Daikin in British Gas new home partnership

UK: Daikin is to supply heat pumps in a low carbon housing project partnership with British Gas and housebuilder Strata.

In anticipation of The Future Homes Standard, the intial trial at a Strata development in Kiveton, Rotherham, will fit the new homes with a 6-8kW Daikin air-source heat pump, 4kWh solar panels and 5kWh battery storage, Hive electric vehicle charger and thermostat. All will be connected to and controlled through Hive’s app, which will also optimise customers’ energy and heat schedules and budget.

British Gas will provide participating homeowners access to a fixed-rate tailored energy tariff. Participants in the trial will also have access to a dedicated British Gas energy manager to help them optimise the technology and keep bills as low as possible, while still meeting their desired comfort levels.

Strata currently builds more than 700 homes a year and will work together with British Gas and Daikin to identify more locations to roll out the offering following the initial launch.
