BUS applications up 12% in September
1st November 2024UK: Applications for the UK’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) reached 3,223 in September, a 12% increase on August, and nearly triple the volume received in September 2023.
September also marked the second-highest month for applications since the BUS began, just behind the peak in October 2023, which was the first month that followed the £7,500 grant uplift.
The total number of BUS voucher applications received since the scheme started now stands at 55,095, with 46,983 issued. The majority (97%) of these were for grants towards air-source heat pump installations.
The UK has already surpassed the 40,426 certified heat pump installations last year, with over 46,000 installations so far in 2024.
“Following the autumn budget, we’re pleased to see that the government recognises the growing demand for heat pumps under the BUS and is committed to increasing funding for the scheme,” commented Ian Rippin, CEO at the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
The BUS requires installations to be MCS certified for consumers to qualify for the £7,500 grant.
