BUS applications down 10% in June

UK: The 2,687 applications to the UK government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) last month were down 10% on May.

Despite this, applications were still 81% higher than the volume received in June 2023, according to latest figures for England and Wales published by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

There was also a corresponding decrease in the number of vouchers issued under the scheme, which provides grants of £7,500 towards installations of air-source heat pumps and ground-source heat pumps.

The 2,200 vouchers issued in June was down 8% in May, but that was 70% more than the number issued in June 2023.

A total of 45,932 BUS voucher applications have been received and 38,938 vouchers issued since the scheme was first introduced in May 2022. The majority of these, 96%, were for grants towards ASHP installations.
