Airedale’s 1974 band leads 50th celebrations
21st June 2024UK: A band formed by employees of Leeds-based critical cooling company Airedale led the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations last weekend.
Aptly named 1974, and formed specifically for the event, Airedale’s very own in-house band comprised lead controls engineer Richard Hadley as lead singer/lead guitarist, global head of marketing Darren Farrar also on guitar, global controls development manager Paul Fairclough on bass and Jon Martinez, head of projects, on drums.
The day-time event saw the company welcome over 800 employees, friends and family to the company’s headquarters. They enjoyed a range of events for all ages, a choice of street food and tours of the facility.
Airedale was formed in 1974 by Alan Duttine and Peter Midgley. The company went from strength to strength, and was sold to US company Modine in 2005.
Adrian Trevelyan, Airedale’s vice president general manager, commented: “We have reached this milestone because of the expertise, experience and dedication of our workforce and it is important we celebrate this together. It was also a great opportunity to showcase engineering as a career option to younger generations.”
