Kelvion PHE for high pressure applications
22nd January 2019GERMANY: Kelvion’s new NP150X plate heat exchanger has been specially designed for district cooling stations, cold supply to high-rise buildings or data centre cooling applications.
These applications require peak performance in terms of heat transfer whilst withstanding high system pressure, demands which are said to be met by the extremely shallow plate gap and smaller pitch of the NP150X. These attributes are said to ensure highly turbulent flow and good heat transfer at very small temperature differences.
The OptiWave design is said to enhance this effect by providing a uniform flow across the entire plate width, and exceeding the NTU values of Kelvion’s sister models, the NT and NX series.
The NP150X is available in plate material 1.401 and 1.4404 (US: AISI304 and AISI316L), as well as in the thicknesses 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6mm. It is suitable for a test pressure up to 42barg.
Kelvin says the NP150X is the first size of the new plate development and will be supplemented later by other models, such as the NP250L.
The NP150X fits into the same universal frames as the equally sized Kelvion plates of the NX and NT series. The new NP series also has advantages in common with these, such as the EcoLoc system for the glueless gaskets or the PosLoc design, which ensures precise alignment of the plate pack.
