Daikin adds compact air handler
2nd October 2024BELGIUM: Daikin is upgrading its air handling units product portfolio by introducing a compact unit.
The Compact L offers a decentralised ventilation solution for offices, restaurants, schools and light commercial applications.
Eurovent certified, it is available in six sizes with capacities ranging from 150m3/hr to over 4000m3/hr. It can operate in either constant air volume or variable air volume modes.
With heights from just 280mm to 500mm, depending on the model, the Compact L height is designed to facilitate installation in false ceilings. This not only isolates the unit to reduce noise, making it ideal for quiet environments such as schools and offices but also saves valuable floor space. In addition, the low noise level can be further reduced by the addition of 50mm thick mineral wool panel insulation and adoption of the available silencer option.
With both right and left connection configurations, it can overcome many installation constraints and allows for better management of the unit’s ducting.
Pre-filters providing two stages of filtration are provided on both the supply and return sides. This achieves a filtration level up to ePM1 50% (F7) and ePM1 80% (F9) on the supply side.
The counterflow heat exchanger and modulating by-pass damper ensure accurate control over the heat recovery effect.
Available accessories include silencers, droplet eliminator and flexible joints. Daikin says that external dampers with spring return actuators may be required for installations with an R32 DX coil to comply with IEC60335-2-40 ed 7 standards.
This unit can be installed in different systems, including hydronic and direct expansion (DX) systems. In both cases, Daikin can provide a complete and fully integrated solution using Daikin components. For example, the Compact L series can be configured with ventilation connected to a hydronic coil, as in the case of applied systems with a chiller or a heat pump. Connection with a Daikin DX condensing unit is also possible by integrating a DX coil onto the Compact L.
