BPHEs optimised for R290 heat pumps

DENMARK: Danfoss has announced an extension to its Micro Plate brazed plate heat exchanger portfolio for residential R290 heat pumps.

The Danish manufacturer has introduced three new models for residential propane heat pumps. Leading the lineup is the H39L-EZU, which boasts a low channel volume and minimal water-side pressure drop. The H62L-CZ features an asymmetric plate design, specifically tailored for R290 reversible heat pumps. Completing the trio is the HDW30-C, described as an ultra-safe solution for condenser or desuperheater applications.

H39L-EZU

The new propane H39L-EZU evaporator can function efficiently as an evaporator or a condenser. In addition to Micro Plate technology, the H39L-EZU has a special mixing chamber that creates precise conditions for two-phase refrigerants and features superheating regions that enable optimal phase shift.

Working temperatures are from -196°C to 200°C; maximum working pressure is 49bar refrigerant side and 25bar water side. Capacity is 5 to 15 kW

H62L-CZ

The H62L-CZ is a condenser optimised for use in R290 heat pumps and chillers. The new asymmetric Z-design Micro Plates has different flow channels on the refrigerant side to improve heat transfer, reduce the amount of material used and minimise the pressure loss on the water side.

Working temperatures are from -196°C to 200°C (390 °F); maximum working pressure: 49bar refrigerant side and 25 bar water side. Capacity is 20 to 70 kW

HDW30-C and HDW44-C

Designed for applications where the liquids are not allowed to mix, the HDW30-C and HDW44-C are double wall heat exchangers, which  prevent the primary flow from mixing with the secondary flow in the event of an internal leak. The main applications are condensers or desuperheaters in heat pump systems for hot sanitary water.

Working temperatures are from -196°C to 200°C and maximum working pressures are 35bar refrigerant side and 16bar water side. Capacity is 3 to 15 kW.
