Toyota hands recovered R407C to Daikin Loop scheme

CZECHIA: Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic has handed over Daikin 295.2kg of R407C to Daikin’s Loop (L∞P) circular programme to reclaim and reuse recovered refrigerants.

The reclaimed R407C will be reused for production of new HVAC devices to reduce the production of new virgin refrigerant. In addition, three decommissioned chiller units at the factory in Kolín – two from the painting shop and one for cooling the administration building – were replaced by new chillers using lower GWP refrigerant R32.

The Loop scheme was launched in 2019 and now covers all EU member states, as well as Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iceland, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, and the UK. To date, more than 20,000 heat pumps with allocated reclaimed refrigerant have been sold by Daikin.

Toyota is the first company to participate in the programme in the Czech Republic.

“At Toyota, we are actively seeking out any opportunity to improve the environment, following a global corporate vision of zero emissions during the production of vehicles by 2050,” explained Koreatsu Aoki, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic. “Above many various improvements, recycling of materials is among the best improvements to continue in the long term by any company. Loop by Daikin is opening a new possibility for us to go even further in the recycling of all materials we use during our manufacturing processes, making production more sustainable.”
