Press fittings pass school exam

UK: Around 20,000 Conex Bänninger press fittings have been employed in the construction of a new secondary school in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh.

The company’s >B< Press fittings, in a range of sizes from in a range of sizes from 15mm to 108mm, were selected by contractors Thomas Hanna as the pipework jointing solution for the domestic services installation on the £22m new-build Devenish College.

The new secondary school, built on a greenfield site, is a split-level design over three floors and can accommodate up to 800 pupils. The accommodation includes six science labs, home economics rooms, art rooms, IT suites, general teaching rooms, staff rooms, as well as toilet facilities for pupils and staff. There is also a standalone sports block comprising of a four-court multi-purpose sports hall, fitness suite, teaching and changing facilities – all with direct access to the four pitches at the lower end of the site.

Thomas Hanna were responsible for the entire mechanical Installation throughout the project, with services including underfloor heating, domestic plumbing services, building management systems, ventilation, air conditioning, soils and wastes – all fed from two purpose-built plantrooms.

The >B< Press fitting’s flame-free properties and their ability to provide a secure and leak-free joint was said to be a crucial factor in their selection.
