Modular heat pump centre for apartment blocks
31st August 2024GERMANY: A prefabricated modular heating centre, containing three R290 heat pumps, is set to provide sustainable heating to a residential apartment block in Penzberg, Bavaria.
The Energy Unit is being installed outside the apartment block, supplying the six residential units in the building, which was built in 1982. With its three AroTHERM Plus heat pumps and a heating output of 37kW, it will replace night storage heaters in the apartments.
The result of a collaboration between German heating equipment manufacturer Vaillant and energy and Ungerhausen-based building technology provider Alois Müller, the Energy Unit is described as a scalable solution with numerous system options for a wide range of applications. It contains all the required system technology such as buffer storage, control, hydraulics and heating circuits.
If desired, in addition to the supply of heating, different solutions for the supply of hot water can be integrated into the overall system.
The Energy Unit can accommodate up to six AroTHERM Plus heat pumps, providing a heat output of 27kW to 69kW. It is also available as a gas-hybrid variant which increases the heat output to 114 kW.
The prefabrication of the heating centre, its testing and quality assurance as well as the delivery and installation are carried out by Alois Müller. The connection to the energy supply and the heat distribution network is made on site. This reduces the time required and the renovation costs as well as the burden on tenants due to construction work to a minimum.
In addition to the product components and commissioning of the heating centre, Vaillant also provides maintenance and optional monitoring for the housing association. The company also offers a five-year warranty.
