Geoclima chiller supplied in Danfoss red

ITALY/DENMARK: Pioneering Italian manufacturer Geoclima has supplied a state-of-the-art chiller, specially customised and supplied in Danfoss red for the Danish manufacturer’s offices in Kolding.

As well as being capable of ensuring the highest possible efficiency, Danfoss required the chiller to be equipped with Danfoss controls and the innovative Danfoss Turbocor compressors. In addition, Danfoss wanted to use the chiller as a showroom, so that visitors could see another application of Danfoss products.

Together with its partner, the Danish contractor UniCool A/S, Geoclima developed a 400kW (114RT) air-cooled Circlemiser with oil-free centrifugal compressor and cylindrical condensers.

The Circlemiser chiller is designed to use the HFO refrigerant R1234ze, with its GWP of 7 and A2L classification. The unit is said to achieve an EER of 5.93W/W (cooling kW/RT = 0.92 – Cooling EER Btu/Wh = 12.946).

Customisation

The most obvious of the customisations is the chiller being painted in the same colour as Danfoss’ well-known brand. In addition the soundproofing boxes for the compressors were made transparent, so that the Turbocor compressors are visible and the chiller was built flipped, so that the compressor compartments are facing the building and thus visible to customers.
