Fenagy to supply CO2 heat pumps to Danish district heating plant

DENMARK: Danish refrigeration company Fenagy is to supply CO2 heat pumps, totalling 3.3MW, to a district heating plant in Sonder Felding, Denmark.

The order, worth SEK20m (€2m), comprises two air-to-water heat pumps, each of 1.65MW heating per unit at 0°C ambient.

Sdr Felding Varmeværk supplies cheap and operationally stable district heating to more than 740 households in Sonder Felding. The plant currently operates wood-fired boilers with a 4MW oil boiler for emergency backup.

Fenagy became part of the Beijer Ref group last year following the Swedish refrigeration wholesalers acquisition of a majority stake in the business. This is Fenagy’s largest single order to date. Danish contractor Krebs A/S will carry out the installation.

Describing himself as happy and proud of Fenagy, Beijer Ref CEO Christopher Norbye said: “This agreement is proof that they have both competitive and efficient heat pumps. At the same time, we can see that the market for environmentally friendly heat pumps is opening up in other European countries, where they also encourage a green transition. Fenagy is a company with great potential and their product range of industrial CO2 heat pumps is a good complement to our OEM offering.”
