Blue Box offers R1234ze chiller option

Kappa-RevITALY: Blue Box is the latest chiller manufacturer to announce the adoption of low GWP refrigerant R1234ze.

The R1234ze option is available on the Italian manufacturers new Kappa Rev range. Unlike most, it has eschewed the use of the Turbocor compressor in favour of a “German-built” stepless screw compressor specifically developed for use with the new HFO refrigerant.

Significantly, Blue Box has also gone for an aluminium micro-channel heat exchanger for increased efficiency, superior corrosion resistance, lower refrigerant charge and 10% overall chiller weight reduction.

Units with two to four compressors are available in capacity ranges from 245-1229kW with freecooling options and EERs of up to 3.3.

The chiller also has in-built leak detection located in the compressor compartment and features a pump down function to enclose the refrigerant in the condensing coil.
